Sheffield’s cottage are a small family owned and ran sheep and beef production business located in Neerim on just over 175 acres. While the rich soils of the district traditionally support dairy farming, their paddocks are scattered with up to 850 sheep and lambs and 80 head of beef cattle. The farm also produces ornamental trees as a separate entity and the two work beautifully together as the cattle and sheep graze the land as it rests between seasons. They have known for a while now how good young lamb and beef tastes and are now inviting you to experience it directly from their farm.

100% grass fed lamb

Sheffields Cottage pride themselves on their quality lamb and continue each season to grow amazing lambs with even fat cover,  high meat yields that are super juicy and tender. They purchase the highly sort after Merino/Border Leister ewes from South Australia and the Riverina Districts of NSW and choose Ivy- downs stud Poll Dorset rams, that are selected for their temperament, length and meat yields to produce quick growing lambs.

They are proud and excited to be offering  a paddock to plate experience with their lambs each year and are chuffed by the feedback received and enjoyment their lamb brings to consumers.

Finished on green grass and supplemented with quality lucerne hay and always processed on a rising plain of nutrition. Currently grazing quality green pastures; Neerim is known for having green summer feed because of the high rainfall and summer  thunderstorms.

When the lambs are ready for processing they are individually weighed and taken by us to the local processor, 30 mins away, then off to the local butcher where they are hung for a week and then packed and cut to your requirements.

A whole lamb is best value but 1/2 lambs are also an option .

Door to door delivery is available  to most parts of Victoria for a flat fee of $35 (chilled) with FREE pick up from Sheffields (snap frozen). 

Meat comes packed beautifully on trays by our local butcher – minced meat in bags (due to quantity)

Shipping Policy

Delivery is FREE to your door (within  the Warragul, Drouin & neerim south townships) between 6.30- 8.30 am. You must have someone home to accept the delivery as items are perishable, you will be notified by phone/text message 24hours before hand- 

Pick up will only be between hours 8-3 on nominated days.

Forequarters *

The Forequarter incorporates the neck, breast, and shoulder of the lamb.

You have the choose of the Forequarter to be into chops and/or boned out and made into a boneless rolled roast.

Forequarter Chops – It is flavoursome cut suited for stews, roasting, braising or equally as good cooked over the BBQ.

Boneless Rolled Roast – makes for a delicious roast, and it is best to be cooked slowly at a medium heat.

Loin *

The Loin contains the most popular cuts such as the rack, cutlets, loins, and chump.

It is the most tender and succulent meat, due to the location of the muscles.

You have the option to the have Loin as chops and/or left as whole rack (untrimmed).

Chops – best cooked on a barbeque, pan fried or grilled on a quick high heat.
(Our family favourite is to crumb the chops and shallow fry them and serve with gravy)

Rack – perfect roast for those Special Occasions.

Hindquarters *

The Hindquarter is made up of the leg and shank on the end.

You can choose for this cut to be done into chops and/or roasts (whole or halve roasts).

Chops – go well on the barbeque, pan fried or even slowly braised and roasted.

Roast – A whole roast will range from 2-3kg ideal for a big family or larger gathering and a halve roast will range from 1 – 1.5kg.
Note: The Shank is connected to the roast which can be cut off by yourself to use with the other shank to make delicious slow cooked meal.

Ribs *

Lamb spareribs can be cut off the rib cage with the meat left on the bone.
These are good for slow roasting or barbeque.

If you require sausages this is where the meat comes from. It is trimmed off the rib cage and made into sausages.

Unfortunately, you cannot get spare ribs and sausages in the same order.

Dog Bones *

The amount of dog bones you receive will depend on how you decide to get your sheep cut up .

For example a whole sheep processed completely into chops will have very few dog bones but if you have the forequarters boned out and sausages made you will receive a considerable amount of dog bones as the meat has been removed from the bones to make these items .
