We blast freeze our chickens at the processors to maximise freshness and quality.

How do we raise our chickens?

We raise our chickens entirely on pasture from the brooder until processing.

Once ready to move out of the brooder, our chickens spend their lives in our Salatin-style chicken tractor system which allows us to move them to fresh pasture every single day. This means they get fresh bedding every day, a new area to explore and do what chickens to best – scratching, dust baths and foraging for bugs and grass (yes, they really do eat grass!) This is great for the chickens, creating a low stress happy bird which translates into great flavour.

The system we use to raise our chickens helps regenerate our pasture by laying down chicken manure in a gentle and controlled way. The pasture absolutely loves it which then benefits the cattle as we rotate them through the same areas once the land has had enough rest. This builds organic matter and soil life, sequestering carbon while constantly improving biological function.
